James Patrick Banholzer, Jr & Sr
James “Jim” Patrick Banholzer, Junior- AKA “Spiderman”
Jim’s gentle soul navigated beyond the physical world February 27th, 2025, where he was welcomed by many family and friends who had already earned their wings - especially his cousin, Philip DeBarber, where they can now continue their shenanigans together from above.
Jim’s talents were multidimensional - he ran out of books to read and his creative writing blossomed into his own blog. He loved and excelled in sports, from baseball in his younger years, then onto his true love, basketball, the sport where he earned his nickname “Spiderman”.
Jim’s employment started in the seventh grade delivering the Washington Post door to door in his Fairfax, Virginia neighborhood. He later transitioned his life from the Northern VA area, to the beauty and calmness of the mountains of Idaho, where he grounded with the joy of new friends, many of whom went above and beyond for him.
Sadly, Jim was afflicted with the devastating disease of severe alcoholism, as many are. Friends and family stood with him and the one unconditional support that NEVER EVER swayed, our mom. I share this very personal aspect of Jim's life as it was the reality of a disease that presents an indescribable pull of a vicious convoluted cycle. Most likely this was the cause of the cancer he had been diagnosed with four days prior to his transition.
Our only dream for Jim is that he is finally free of the unsolicited pull he was burdened with.
Jim shared the world with his dad (of the same name), his unconditional mom “Ceil” (Joyce), and two siblings, Karyn (Steve) Schassler and David Banholzer. He was also blessed with three more gentle souls like him, his nieces, Callie Nicole Banholzer, Katharine Delaney Schassler, and Margot Marie Schassler.
It was shared with us that many kind memories were posted on the Robinson (high school) Facebook page. These moments in time are appreciated - to reflect back to “the good old days” was helpful for our family’s hearts - TYSM and it was so “Robinson”.

James “Pete” Patrick Banholzer, Senior - AKA “POPPOP”
Pete's energy gently transitioned home on March 1, 2025, and unbeknownst to him, within forty hours of his son of the same name.
Pete was welcomed to eternal life not only by his first-born son, but also by his brother John, mom Genevieve (Porta), and dad Joseph, as well as many other loved ones.
Pete shared endless mischievous childhood moments that molded him into the fun-loving being many experienced throughout his life.
Pete's career started with selling popsicles and delivering newspapers as a young boy in his hometown of Altoona, PA. After high school he served for all of us as a United States Marine. Ultimately his personality and talents led him to a General Manager career within the automobile industry representing Volkswagen, Volvo, Range Rover, Porsche, Audi, and Mercedes Benz. His lifetime hobby was dedicated to restoring VWs, including a Hebmuller Cabriolet.
In retirement, Pete became a chauffeur as he loved driving people in need of a ride anywhere they needed to go. He had a very special place in his heart for visiting veterans at VA facilities. After having to give up his driver’s license, he talked non-stop about getting his license back - he even shared this with the hospice chaplain the day before his transition.
For many years at Christmas time, Pete transformed into “Santa” for all the neighborhood little ones, with the most important stop being his own home. He was a Big-Brother role model to “Billy” for over thirty years. He also carried many posts within the American Legion including commander and was an usher at Beaver Stadium in Penn State (probably paying more attention to the Nittany Lions than getting people to their seats :) ).
Pete leaves behind the love of his life and former wife that made it to 65 years, Ceil (Joyce), his children, Karyn (Steve) Schassler and David Banholzer, and three amazing, dedicated granddaughters, Callie Nicole Banholzer, Katharine Delaney Schassler, and Margot Marie Schassler, who loved him dearly. Also left on earth are his sisters, Barbara Fraundorfer and Maryann Korpics, as well as ENDLESS nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, many who have reached out and shared their own unique special memories, which have been helpful and are so appreciated.
For those who care to honor Pete's life with a donation, kindly consider the Veterans Assistance Fund of Centre County - https://www.veteransassistancefund.org/ - where I am just hearing Pete was a funding member. Thank you to Brian Querry, who had stood beside our family as well as endless veterans, on many levels.
