James Vincent Salvi, 97, of McKeesport, died on April 25, 2022 at home. Born March 31,1925, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Verno) Salvi.
He was a retired millwright from US Steel after 38 years of employment. James was an inventor and recognized by everyone who knew him as “the guy who could do, build, or fix anything” whether it be electrical, mechanical, construction, cars , appliances, machinery, tools to make the job easier, remodeling, etc. Family, neighbors and friends knew, with just a call, they would be helped with no charge. He was also known by those on the McKeesport bike trial for long rides daily on his self- built recumbent bike.
Survivors include four daughters. Cheryl Kunisky of Dubois Pa, Michelle ( Michael) Banosky of Belle Vernon Pa, Darla ( Ronald) Brewster of McKeesport Pa, and Renee ( William ) Teck of Finleyville Pa. James was Pap to eight grandchildren (one deceased) and 18 great- grandchildren; brothers Mario, Michael (Kathy), Rudy (Paula); sisters Anna Hall and Lucille Hodge; numerous nieces and nephews. In honoring James’ wishes, there will be no visitation or service.
