Louise Bard

b. January 14, 1943

Louise A. Bard, 75, of Walker Township, Huntingdon County, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, at UPMC Altoona. Born Jan. 14, 1943, in Hares Valley, Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of the late Melvin M. and Mary I. (Harshbarger) Knepp.

She married Sheldon L. Bard Jr. on April 1, 1961. Mr. Bard survives at home. Louise is survived by: a son, Sheldon L. III (Turk) and wife, Patricia Bard, of Lexington, Ky.; daughters, Wendy D. Stottlemyer and husband, Eric, of Huntingdon, Crystal M. Gindlesperger and husband, Charles (Chuck), of Jennerstown, and foster daughter, Erica D. Knepp and husband, Ricky, of Huntingdon. The pride and joy of her life was her grandchildren, Matt Bard, Andy Bard, Traci Perez, Jessica Gosizk, Shawn Stottlemyer, Jason Stottlemyer, Tara Root, Michael Gindlesperger, Jeffrey Gindlesperger, Amanda Gindlesperger, Tiffanie Knepp, Abbie Knepp, Keelie Jo Knepp and six great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by: a brother, Melvin (Sonny) Knepp Jr. and wife, Susan; and a brother-in-law, David Jones. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Knepp, who died in infancy, and a sister, Elda Jones.

Louise loved children and operated the first licensed day care in the county, caring for more than 70 children over a 20 year period. In the early 1980s, she and her husband ran the Scripture Gift Center in Huntingdon. In later years, she was involved in providing personal care for the elderly. She was a member of Heritage Baptist Church and was a woman who prayed a lot for her family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Heritage Baptist Church in McConnellstown at 11 a.m. on Oct. 20, 2018. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
