Richard Joseph Chambers, "Dick", passed away at home on Friday, June 24th 2022. He was born in Portage, PA at home on March 23rd, 1942. Son of Jennings (Jay) and Pauline Chambers. He was the eldest of three children. His siblings, Robert (Glen) and Marie Canning (Dan) mourn his loss.
Dick grew up in Portage, PA where he learned to dance. From a teen hangout known as Peg's Diner to numerous weddings and Saturday nights at the PNA (Polish National Alliance Club) in Jamestown, Pa Dick danced! Ladies lined up to dance with him. From Polkas to rock n roll, he loved being on the dance floor. It was a joy to watch him as the happiness he left on the floor flowed to his dance partners and all who watched him.
He was about 12 years old when he started working in Portage at a car tire business. Small in stature but big of heart, he'd roll truck tires around that weighed almost as much as he did. Graduating from high school in 1960, he headed off to New Jersey to the factories like so many of his classmates. After several years, he moved to Washington D.C. and the Marriott Corp where he found his niche working in the food industry at Bob's Big Boys chain. He spent the rest of his life working in the food industry.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by 5 children. Martin (Raquel) of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Jennifer Stevenson (Michael) of Duncansville, PA to his former wife, Joan McCabe. Also, Michael of South Carolina, Matthew (Stacey) of Clearville, PA; Christopher of Tennessee to former wife Susan Grubb.
10 grandchildren; Caitlyn, Jessica, Colton, Collin, Ryan, Ethan, Lauren, Kirsten, Brady, Brielle and a host of nephews and nieces.
At Dick's request, no services will be held. His ashes will be scattered in the mountains of Western PA where he spent many happy hours with his family and friends.
