Roberta Alice (Kochendarfer) Cunningham, 71, of Schellsburg, PA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Roberta (Bobbie) was born on December 3, 1952 in Bedford, PA. She is the daughter of the late Robert and Alice Kochendarfer of Osterburg, PA. On December 29, 1973, she married George (Bill) William Cunningham of Pittsburgh, PA. Bobbie graduated from Chestnut Ridge High School in 1970 and from Maryland Medical Secretarial School in 1972. She went on to work various factory jobs, including Green Gardens, Hedstrom and, finally, retiring from JLG.
Bobbie was an avid reader and enjoyed the simple things in life like a walk around the lake, yard sales, and spending time with her family and her dog, Tillie. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, known for her kindness and smile. She will fondly be remembered for her story-telling, stubbornness, and loving heart.
Bobbie is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Bill Cunningham, of Schellsburg, PA; daughter, Emily Cunningham, of Bedford, PA; daughter, Paula (Cunningham) Bottenfield, wife of Andy Bottenfield, of Bedford, PA; two grandchildren, Zoey and Bo Bottenfield; and a nephew, Joe Kochendarfer, of Centre Hall, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Alice Kochendarfer; sister and brother-in-law, Pennie and Roger Patterson, of Altoona, PA; and brother, Albert Kochendarfer, survived by wife, Nancy, of Hopkins, SC.
As per Bobbie’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in her memory or monetary donations may be made to the family to help cover the costs associated with final expenses.
The family would like to thank the staff at Gentiva Hospice for their kindness and compassionate care during Bobbie’s illness. Also, a special thanks to neighbors, Shannon and Tanya Sarver, who went above and beyond to help whenever needed.
