Samuel Guy McGarry, 50, of Curwensville, broke on through to the other side on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at his home.
He was born on October 30, 1972, in Clearfield, PA. He attended Curwensville Area High school and the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center, where he graduated top of his class in the masonry program in 1992.
Sam was a brick mason by trade, excelling in stonework and heavily requested by many.
A lover of music, you could often find Sam jamming to The Doors or Eminem. He collected antiques and unique bottles, saving them to gift to his kids as treasures each time they would visit. He enjoyed looking at the night sky, always searching for something beyond this world.
Anybody who knew Sam couldn’t help but to like him; his contagious laugh and fiery sense of humor will be extremely missed by the family he held so close to his heart as well as many lifelong friends.
He loved his six children fiercely with everything he had in him; he was also sure to remind them of that with daily “I Love You” messages which he never forgot to send. His children will find comfort in knowing that his love for them was truly unconditional and never ending. They feel unbelievably lucky to have called Sam their dad.
The world was not always kind to him, and his demons always followed closely behind. Despite this, Sam never stopped fighting to overcome them and he always remained a shining light in this world. Family and friends will try to find peace in knowing his body and soul can no longer feel the same undeserving pain he sometimes felt while here.
He is free.
Samuel is survived by his parents, Patrick and Gloria (McCoy) McGarry of Curwensville; 6 six children Jonna (Nick) Garcia of Coalport, Sami Jo McGarry of Curwensville, Chyna (Mason) Confer of Winburne, Sarah McGarry of Indiana, and Seth Lucas and William Guy McGarry of Curwensville; five grandchildren, Lucas and Felix Garcia, Owen, Kalee and Max Confer; one grand dog, Onyx Elaine; seven siblings, Patrick Jr. (Anna) McGarry, Shamrock (Curt) Queen, Shan (Stacey) McGarry, Trindle (Bill) O’Dell, Brent McGarry, Faith (Alan) Collins, and Gloria (Ronnie) Queen; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was proceeded in death by his grandparents, Lyda and Clarence Thomas McGarry and Jack and Annabelle McCoy; two nephews, Brian Gallaher and Dalton Warner.
A private memorial gathering will be held at a later date at a top secret location.
Family suggests that memorial contributions be made to either NextDistro (donorbox.org/next-distro) and St.Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org/donate).
