Stephen V. Shuman (Vance), 77, of State College, PA passed away peacefully on December 28 in his residence.
He was born on January 15, 1943 to Paul Shuman and Doris Vance Shuman. He had two sisters, Laura Shuman and Lee (Dave) Snyder. On December 19, 1964 he married his high school sweetheart Linda Jane Hobbs. They had three children Stephen Shuman, Dawn Shuman, and Amy (Wayne) Wall, eight grandchildren – Cassandra, Christopher, James, Alysha, Anthony, Matthew, and Andrew Wall, and Andrew Goodwin – and three great-grandchildren – Bryan Wall, Autumn Green, and Carra Wall. Vance was preceded in death by his parents, sister Laura, and his wife Linda.
Vance graduated from Lima Senior High School in 1961. While in school, he excelled in football, basketball, and baseball. He was a life-long fan of the Michigan Wolverines.
Vance loved to fish. He owned a home on Lake Riverside in Thomasville, Georgia. He spent many hours fishing on the lake and was active in maintaining the lake. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to a fund to aid in maintaining the lake. Contributions can be sent to Amy Wall at 138 Tradition Dr., State College, PA 16803.
